12.4° C It poured with rain virtually nonstop all morning,
the sun came out in the afternoon
once we’d tied up! Set off at 8.00 a.m. Our
overnight mooring had filled up with cruisers the previous evening. Gave Bill
some rye bread as he was running short and we planned to shop in Minden when we
got there. Around 11 a.m. the rain eased up to a heavy drizzle. I made a cup of
soup to warm us up. Traffic was light on the MLK, a few cruisers were moving
and we saw several Czech commercial boats. Had lunch on the move. Tied up at
Minden behind a small yacht at 1.45 p.m. The sun had come out. We all went
shopping. Mike said he had driven past a Real hypermarket on the moped the day
before,
but we ended up at an E-Activ, so he asked a guy who was just getting
out of his car where Real was. An elderly lady came to the rescue when the guy
started drawing on a street map of the town and said “Follow me”! We did and
she took us into the town centre - the Real was in a shopping centre next to
the bus depot. She waved goodbye as we turned into the car park and we shouted
thanks. Parked in an underground car park and took the lift to the shops. It
was 3.30 p.m. The shop was busy and a bit chaotic compared to “our” Real in
EHS, but we bought some of the items off our “to-get” list, e.g a new knife
sharpener and some tippex strip on a roll (instead of a bottle of white paint
that’s always gone solid when you want to use it!). When we returned to the
boat at 5 p.m. I had a Budapest salad for my dinner (from Real, it’s very tasty
- made with matchstick slivers of sausage (a bit like luncheon meat) and peppers in
a tart sauce with bits of pickled gherkin and apple).
